Why Endoplasmic Reticulum isn't present in Ova and sperm cells?

Dear Student,

Endoplasmic reticulum is not present in human sperm and is very rare in ovum.

The main function of sperm cell is to deliver DNA to ovum.
The sperm lacks ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum because they are not necessary for the delivery of DNA to the ovum. However, it contains many mitochondria to provide energy to flagellum for its efficient movement towards ovum.
