Why epidermis of plants have large vacuole whereas other cells do not?

Plant cells often have a large central vacuole for use in maintaining osmotic  pressureto keep the cell turgid. Plant cells are turgid when they have more concentrated solutes than their environment - when the cell is hypertonic and the environment is hypotonic. Plant cells become flaccid when these circumstances are reversed.
