why epithelial cells do not possess any gaps between them??

(Answer mumkun olan en kisa surede)

Dear student,
Please find below the answer:

The cells of epithelium are packed so closely and tightly that there is hardly any chance of creating intercellular spaces. These cells are dividing continuously and rapidly. Also, they need to protect the inner cells. Hence, no spaces between them.

Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.

Epithelial cells are one of the major plant body supporting cells and therefore they do not possess spaces between them to maintain stability otherwise plant can die by bending down to earth...

Dear Student,

Epithelial tissues line the cavities and surfaces of structures throughout the body. Many glands are made up of epithelial cells. Functions of epithelial cells include secretion, selective absorption, protection, transcellular transport and detection of sensation. Cells of epithelial tissue are tightly packed and form a continuous sheet. They have almost no intercellular spaces. The linings of the mouth, lung alveoli and kidney tubules all are made of epithelial tissue. The linings of the blood and lymphatic vessels are of a specialised form of epithelium called as the endothelium.

Priya Agrawal.
