Why has India a rich heritage of flora and fauna?
Dear Student,
India a rich heritage of flora and fauna due to the following reasons:
1. India has all the major physical features of the Earth, i.e., mountains, plains, deserts, plateaus and islands.
2. The different regions of the country have varied soil types.
3. Though India has an inherently monsoon-type of climate, there exist numerous variations in humidity and temperature across the country. Even the rains brought by the monsoon winds are unevenly distributed throughout the country.
4. Therefore, each factor responsible for the type of flora and fauna in an area- like, land, soil, temperature, humidity and precipitation, are found across the entire country making it rich in flora and fauna.
Regards
