why HCl solution has same value of morality and normality

Dear Student,

For HCl molarity (M) and normality (N) are same because HCl can release only one H+ ion.
N = M × n-factor
For acid n-factor is the number of replaceable H+ ion released in water.
For HCl it is 1 so N = M

Number of replaceable H atoms in an acid is the n-factor of the acid
In HCl we have number of replaceable H atoms as 1
So nf=1
We know that M=nf*N
so that in case of HCL M=N
Hope that helps
