why houses in assam are built on stilts ?

Houses in Assam are built on stilts because Assam recieves abundant rainfall ,due to which there are chance of floods . In case of floods , water might get into the houses if the houses are built on ground level so in order to avoid flooding of house , house are built on stilt as stilts are above the ground level , they prevent the houses from being flooded

 As we know that Assam suffers from regular and heavy rainfall.Even Cherrapunji the city receiving highest rainfall is located in the state of Assam.So the citizens of the state need to protect their houses from drowning and thats why they build them on silts.

As Assam recieves abundant rainfall,there is a  chache  chance of flood.If the flood occures some tims the water would enter in to houses if they are build in the ground  level. To avoid these problems, the houses are build on stilts .As the stilts are above the ground level ,the houses will be prevented from being flooded.

State of Assam is flood and cyclone-prone. Building houses on stilts help the houses from being carried away by wind or water pressure.
