Why is acetic acid more soluble in water than benzoic acid
Dear Student
Lower of carboxylic acids are soluble in water, as they form hydrogen bond. With the increase in carbon number the solubility decreases due to the increase in vander Waal's force of attraction and they have less tendency to form hydrogen bond.
This is the reason acetic acid is more soluble in water than in benzoic acid.
