Why is AlCl3 called a salt of strong acid and weak base ?

Dear Student,

The topic is about salt hydrolysis.
A solution is acidic, If acid is stronger than base and in case base is stronger than acid, the solution is alkaline. When both the acid and the base are either strong or weak, the solution is generally neutral in nature. As the nature of the cation or the anion of the salt determines whether its solution will be acidic or basic.
Reaction :-
AlCl3 + 3H2O <=> Al(OH)3 + 3HCl,

Here HCl is a strong acid and weak acd Al(OH). As a result of this reaction, the solution will be acidic.so AlCl3 called a salt of strong acid and weak base .
