Why is caecum called blind sac? i know that "caecus" means blind but why is it named so?

Dear student,
Caecum is a pouch at the junction of small and large intestine where one opening leads to small intestine while the end is closed therefore it is called blind sac.

It is because the caecum continues upwards as the ascending colon but the ileum opens on it's side wall; so the lower end is technically closed
