Why is cis butane more polar than trans form?
Dear Student
In cis isomer the methyl groups are present on same side of both carbons. So, the dipole is additive making the molecule polar.
In trans isomer, methyl group are present in different positions and so dipole is cancelled. Hence it is less polar.
