Why is equality important in a democratic country?

Dear student,

Equality under the law means that everyone should be treated the same. No discrimination should be there on the basis of caste, religion, race, etc. Democracy is a type of government which is for the people, of the people and by the people. In this all the citizens have right to choose their representatives or leader. Democratic government also offers equality to the citizens of the country, but if there is no equality and there is discrimination then how can we say that the country is democratic. So, treating people equally is very crucial for a democratic government in order to maintain peace in the country.

Regards.
