Hydrogen peroxide is stored in coloured bottles because coloured bottles do not allow the light to enter the bottle so it prevents hydrogen peroxide from decomposing into water and oxygen.

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is very close to water (H2O). Hydrogen peroxide needs only a little energy to change to water. That could be from heat or even from light. Thats why you have to keep it in a cool place at all times, and thats why the bottle is NEVER clear. When light hits hydrogen peroxide it begins breaking down to water.
