why is intermolecular space negligible when intermolecular force of attraction is the strongest?

Dear Student,
When the intermolecular force is very strong the the particles of matter attract each other with great force of attraction due to which the distance between two constituent particle reduces and hence the intermolecular space almost become negligible. Hence such matters also are incompressible and have high density.
