because seeds compete with each other for food, water, minerals, nutrients, sunlight etc. and also they need some space because when they grow, they also grow in size.....

It is necessary to sow seeds at an appropriate depth because as we all know seeds are the parents of a plant and a plants deprives of roots.So,for the proper germination of a plant we have to sow seeds at a proper depth so that the plant gets enough sunlight to germinate.

It is necessary to sow seeds at a proper depth because if seeds are sown very close to the surface ,birds and insects may eat them. Whereas, if seeds are sown much below than the ground they will lack water ,soil nutrients  and  sunlight.
