i think because there is more friction on a smooth paper which causes less interlocking between te pen and paper and may even cause the pen to slip away

Friction is required for writing. In smooth paper, there are less irregularities due to which there is less friction and causes inability to write,

WITH LESS IRREGULARITIES ON A SMOOTH PAPER OUR PROCESS OF WRITING WILL NOT BE BALANCED VERY WELL, SO LESS FRICTION IN THIS CASE CAUSES YOU TO FACE A LITTLE DIFFICULTY WHILE WRITING ON A SMOOTH-SURFACED PAPER.

The main issue with smooth paper is that the paper is also friction less and even the pen is designed to write smoothly.So, as you know without friction writing is just impossible.If you try to write it will be often slipping down.

SO YOU SHOULD REMEMBER "FRICTION IS A NECESSARY EVIL"

The reason is that on smooth surfaces there are a lesser number of irregularities whereas on some kind of rough paper such as newspaper it would be easier just as there are more irregularities or contact points.Refer the figure on the textbook for this diagram.

this ia because smoother the surface lesser the friction and due to this only the pencil lid fails to get a contact on the surface of the smooth paper and that wht why are unable to write on such a paper

the main issue with a smooth paper is that it has a smooth surface with very less irregularities.as irregularities are requied for a good frition we are unable to write bcaz of less friction
