why is mitochondria called as powerhous of the cell??

1. Nucleus is known as brain of the cell because it controls the activities of the cell and is involved in hereditary functions.

2. Mitochondria is known as power house of cell because cellular respiration takes place in mitochondria which acts as the energy source for the cells.They generate energy cells known as ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate)
