Why is option b correct in this

Dear student,

When a metal is mixed with another element, which may be a metal or a nonmetal such that a new substance of homogeneous composition is obtained, the substance obtained is known as an alloy.
An alloy is thus a homogeneous mixture of two or more metals, or a metal and a nonmetal.
The properties of an alloy are different from that of combining elements.
For example, when the iron is mixed with carbon, nickel, and chromium, stainless steel is obtained which is hard and does not rust.

It is true that alloy cannot be separated into its components by physical methods but it is not the correct reason for the definition of alloy.

Hence, the correct option is (B).
