Why is technique amniocentesis so named?

Dear Student, Amniocentesis is a foetal sex determination and disorders test based on the chromosomal pattern in the amniotic fluid surrounding the developing embryo. It is named so because techique describes amniotic fluid (protective fluid present to protect the developing baby from blow to the mother abdomen) centesis (puncturing in a body cavity by a hollow needle to draw out fluid).
