why is the amount of the momentum transferred by the em waves incident on the surface so small??

Dear Student,

Momentum associated with em wave is equal to h  . h is of the order of 10–34, so momentum transferred with em waves is very small and hence momentum transferred by em waves incident on the surface is very small.

Momentum transferred
= Energy x Speed of light
= (hv)x(c)
= 10^-22

Which is a very small value.
