Why is the coil of a heating element of a heater made from a metal?

i tottaly agree with i amm perfecttt....

because if take a wood or plastic then the current will not pass,by this the element will not get heated up and the if we keep water to make it heat then the current will not pass by the element and the water will not become hot....

In short - metals are good conductors of heat and electricity unlike non -metals as metals have more free electrons.
