why is the eye lens not perfectly solid

our eye lens is not perfectly solid .this helps in the accommodation of our eye .
it this process when we see distant objects our lens with the help of ciliary muscles expands and become flat for better view. also when we see very near by objects our lens get contracted and thick for better view.
if our lens would have been solid this would not have been possible.

Our eye lens  are made up of protein .If they are perfectly solid than it can't be possible to adjust its focal length according to various distance of object.Here ciliary muscles also fail to work

if this will be their than we will not be able to see the other objects clearly as aqueos solution helps us see as it is in liquid form
