Why is the image of engine evoked by the poet?

As it is the autumn season, the leaves of the laburnum tree in the poem 'The Laburnum Top' have dried up and fallen down. The tree was silent and dying when one day, the goldfinch bird came to the top of the laburnum tree with her family. The image of a machine refers to the young ones of the bird. This is because just like a machine, the children also make a lot of noise when they see their mother coming with food.
