Why is the poet sympathetic towards the snake in the poem snake trying

Dear Student,

The poet is sympathetic to the snake and wants it to be spared. The snake is small, harmless and non-poisonous. It cannot even harm children. It was lying on the banks of the pond. After being noticed, people are chasing the snake to kill it. The poet is pleading with them to spare it. The poet's feeling of sympathy teaches us that all living organisms have the right to live peacefully. Even snakes attack only in self-defence. Moreover, not all snakes are poisonous. If they are left alone, they do not harm anyone.
