why is womens helth considered as important for the society's progress??

Women constitute about half the total population of India. They are at a disadvantaged position as compared to men  in the areas of education, participation in economic development and health care. The below mentioned points highlight the situation of women in the healthcare sector. 

1. Around 3 lakh girls below 15 years of age are not only married but have already borne children.
2. More than 50% of married women between age group of 15 and 49 suffer from anaemia. 
3. Incidents of maternal mortality are quite high
