why it is easier to cut fruits with sharp knife rather than with the blunt knife

Pressure depends on the surface area of the object.Since a sharp knife has a more clean side than a blunt knife therefore, it can be driven into the surface with minimum efforts. So,it is easier to cut with a sharp knife than a blunt knife.

the edge of knife is sharp, apple can be cut easily without much effort. This is because, area of the sharp edge is highly minimized which causes a very high pressure on the apple. On the other hand in case of blunt knife, even a good effort may go futile as the pressure applied by its edge may not be sufficient to cut the apple.

It is easier to cut fruits with sharp knife because they sharp end has smaller area of contact. So as the area of contact is small it puts more pressure on the fruits and the fruits get easily cut by the sharp knife rather than the blunt one.

it cuts better because it is sharper. the force exerted on it is greater than it would be if it was blunt.
The area on the tip of the blade is small meaning the pressure exerted is all at the end of the tip making it easier to use. (the force on both knives is the same)

because foce is inversally proportional to area

look angad it is easier to cut fruits with sharp knife than with blunt knife because the area of cutting edge of sharp knife is less than the area of blunt one and you will be knowing that force is inversally proported to area because its frmula is force/area......

  1. IT IS SHARP.

A sharp knife tears the fruit in one blow. Also, if the knife is sharp, the fruit will get cut smoothly. It will reduse the friction or the fruit will get cut without any type of rubbing or striking.

BECAUSE OF IT'S SHARPNESS...

It is easier to cut with a sharp knife than compared to a blunt knife because they are sharp and have a small area of contact . so as the area of contact is small it puts more pressure on fruits and vegetables which allows us to cut them easily

As said that if the area is less , pressure is more and if area is more then the pressure is less
The blunt knife has more area hence the pressure exerted is less while the shart knife has less area hence the pressure exerted is more
This is why it is easier to cut a fruit with a sharp knife

A sharp knife cuts better than a dull knife because a sharper edge has less surface area. A smaller surface area will exert more kinetic force in a concentrated area.

More the area of object, more the pressure required. So that we can cut fruits easily, we use sharp knives.
  • 0
because, pressure is inversely proportional to the area of contact, if the area of contact increases, then pressure decreases and if the area of contact decreases, then pressure increases
  • 0
as a sharp knife has less area of contact, the pressure exerted is more, so the fruits get cut easily.
but in case of blunt knife, as the area of contact is less, the pressure exerted is less, which makes it difficult to cut fruits
  • 0
In the concept of pressure it is that blunt side of the knife needs more pressure than the sharp side of the knife
  • 0
If we cut a fruit by a sharp knife it cuts easily. And, if we cut a fruit by a blunt knife it doesn't cut easily. We cut fruits by applying same force.
  • 0
A sharp knife is more effective in cutting a fruit than a blunt knife because as we know that pressure is inversly proportional to area and the area of contact in case of a blunt knife is lesser than that of a blunt knife
  • 2
Because sharp knife have lesser area of contact which increases the pressure exerted by sharp knife .This large pressure helps to cut fruit easily than blunt knife
  • 0
Because area of contact decreases and due to which for the same force the pressure is more
  • 1
A sharp knife is more effective in cutting a fruit than a blunt knife because the area of contact in the case if sharp knife is lesser easy that of a blunt knife.
