WHY MELTING POINT OF OXYGEN GAS IS -218.8 °C????
Dear student,
At room temperature, oxygen exists as diatomic molecule O2 gas.
- O2 shows weak van der Waal forces between the molecules, needs less energy to break the forces for converting solid from to liquid state and thus has a low melting point.
