Thus, due to presence of casparian strips water does not move by apoplast in endodermis.
As apoplast is a non living pathway, where substance are moved through cell wall and cortex, metabolic state (only involves living component) does not affect apoplast pathway. The reverse is for symplast pathway as it allows movement through protoplast connected to plasmodesmata.
