Why more than 1 cell is used in torch ????

In torch we can use one cell as well as requirement is just to complete the circuit.
In big torches two more cells are required to complete the circuit and bulb will glow brighter.
In small torch we cna use one cell if by placing one cell circuit gets completed that is length of torch where cell is placed is should be suitable for one cell only. Only difference will be brightness of bulb.
