Why must seeds and fruits be dispersed?

Seed dispersal is the movements or the transport of the seed from the parent plant. Plants have limited mobility and rely on the factors (both biotic and abiotic) to spread their seeds.

Seed dispersal is important because of the following reasons:-

1) seed dispersal results in the highest survival rates for the seed, away from disease, predators and competition.

2) Seed dispersal allows plants to colonize new areas, far from the parent plants.

Five main modes of seed dispersal are:-

gravity

wind

ballistic

water

animals

1) it allows plants to grow in new places .

2) it reduces the competition for sunlight ,water and air between the plants

3) it prevents overcrowding of plants in a place

Plantsneed to disperse their seeds far from themselves so as to prevent overcrowding, as well as to formnew colonies. Almost all seeds are produced in the fruits. These fruits enable seeds to be scattered in a variety of ways such as by wind, water or animals.

So that there won't be overcrowding. Because if there is overcrowding the plantswill have to compete against each other for sunlight, water, space to grow andnutrients.
