why no backward wavefront is possible

Dear student,

The wavelets go in all direction, the backward propagating waves are destructively interfered with all the wavelets from the other wave fronts.Hence it does not exists.

Regards.

Net us let us come back to the topic Why wavefronts can't traverse backward?(considering light waves). Light wave arise from a source and traverse forward like this. ... Therefore, we can say that with time passes light waves disperses at most that can be possible and forever.

Existence of wavefront is decided by the following relation I=u(costheta+1)
For backward wavefront theta=180
I=0
That's why backward wavefront do not exists.
