WHY ONLY MERCURY EXIST AS LIQUID AT ROOM TEMPERATURE, BUT ELEMENTS LIKE Zn Cd ARE SOLID AT ROOM TEMPERATURE?

In mercury all the orbitals are completely filled with electrons. As a result of this, it has very high ionization energy which makes it difficult for electrons to participate in metallic bonding. Thus mercury exists as a liquid at room temperature due to weak metallic bonding.
