Why option one is the correct answer, why not Transpiration PulL??

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

After entering into the root xylem, water is transported to all plant parts. It moves in upward direction because of the force acting on it known as  Transpirational pull. Tranpirational pull makes water to  rise in capillaries. The 3 physical properties of water due to which water raise as a column are:-

  • Cohesion- Mutual attraction between water molecules,
  • Adhesion-Attraction of water molecules to polar surface (xylem cell wall surfaces)
  •  Surface Tension-Attraction of water to each other in liquid phase to a greater extent than to water in gaseous phase.
