Since it is not practical for all ministers to meet regularly and discuss everything, the decisions are taken in the cabinet meetings. The cabinet works as a team. The ministers may have different views and opinions, but everyone has to own up to every decision of the cabinet. That is why parliamentary form of government in most countries is often known as the Cabinet form of government.

Parliamentary democracy, democratic form of government in which the party or a coalition of parties with the greatest representation in the legislature forms the government, its leader becoming prime minister  or chancellor . Executive functions are exercised by members of the parliament appointed by the prime minister to the cabinet . The parties in the minority serve in opposition to the majority and have the duty to challenge it regularly. The prime minister may be removed from power whenever he loses the confidence of a majority of the ruling party or of the parliament. Parliamentary democracy originated in BRITIAN and was adopted in several of its former colonies.

  • Ministers who take vital decisions regarding their ministries are Cabinet ministers.
  • Since the ministers cannot meet daily, decisions are held by Cabinet ministers in their meetings.
