why plants produced from micropropagation called somoclones ?
Plants that are obtained from long term callus culture or suspension culture produces plants with some genetic variations known as somaclonal variations and the plants obtained are known as somaclones. So micropropagation can be used to produces somaclones which are very helpful in producing resistance (for example, against insects) in various species.
