why plastic is insoluble in water?

Plastic is an inert substance comes in the category of  polymer and it does not have the tendency to react with water molecules because of its inert nature. Hence, plastic is insoluble in water .

Note- Any substance which do not react or do not show any chemical reaction with air containing gases or liquid like water etc or solid substance are considered as inert.
