Why stars are very bright and shine?

Dear Student

Stars are huge glowing ball of hot gases (hydrogen and helium). The temperature inside is so high due to the nuclear fusion reactions occurring inside core, producing energy. This is why stars are very hot.

Since the energy gets high enough in the atmosphere, this energy escapes out into space as light of different  wavelengths. So, they appear bright.

Stars twinkle or shine because our atmosphere is constantly moving around or is turbulent. The light travelling from the stars gets bent in different direction making them twinkle. It is quite similar to the effect when viewing the reflection of the moon on a lake's surface when its (lake) moving.
