Why the elements of the Boron Family are called Icosagens?

Dear Student,
Elements of Boron family are of Group 13 from the periodic table. The elements of the Boron Family are called Icosagens as this name was proposed to design the elements in Group 13. Icosagens term is derived by merging two words which are Icosahedron (20 faces regular polyhedron) and gen (Greek for "to produce"). This is done  because of the unique property of boron among all the elements in the structural complexity of its allotrophic modification. Boron group elements are also referred as triels as this is the third main group of periodic table.
