why the number of sperms produced is always more than the number of eggs produced?

The number of sperms produced is more than the number of eggs because sperms are motile and they have to compete with one another for their existence. In the end only one sperm fuses with the egg.

  •  as sperms are motile
  • as they have to go from one body to another
  • their life span is too small
  • to increase the possibilty of fertilisation.
  • There only needs to be one egg and one sperm to fertilize but because the sperm are alien to the female body, the body attacks it killing off large numbers of sperm. The fastest and strongest sperm gets there but the other die off to aid that one sperm. If there was only one sperm released the female body would kill it so quickly that reproduction would be impossible.

Sperms are very small than the egg and are also motile due to which to increase the chances of fertilisation the no. of sperms produced are more so that if one misses the chance than the other can fertilise because the sperm produced has a fixed life span and if in that time the sperm doesn't fertilise the egg than it will die so only to increase the chances of fertilisation no. of sperms produced are more.
