Why the ph of blood is more in arteries than veins?

Dear student,

Venous blood is deoxygenated blood that carries metabolites and waste products like CO2 and acids produced by glucose burnt inside cells. Both CO2 and acids cause the pH to fall in venous blood compared to arterial blood which is oxygenated blood being pumped out by heart to various parts of the body. As arteries mainly carry oxygenated blood their pH is high. Hence the difference in pH is mainly due to CO2 and H+ concentration in veins.
