Why the village areas are called as rural and the cities areas are called as urban ?

Village areas are called rural areas because it is located geographically outside the towns and cities. They are characterised by less population density and small settlements.

City areas are called urban areas because it is created by the process of urbanisation and migration of people and is characterised by high population density and infrastructure.
