Why the water of ocean ,sea is salty ?why not of river ,pond?
Please find below the solution to the asked query
Sea water contains a very large amount of dissolved minerals that are carried from the land by rivers, especially sodium chloride (common salt). These dissolved minerals originate from the weathering and breaking up of minerals on land. Dissolved sodium chloride makes up to 77 %. The other mineral compounds are magnesium, calcium and potassium. These minerals together make sea water saline and the salinity of sea water varies depending on the rate of evaporation. Higher the rate of evaporation, higher the salinity and vice versa. Thus sea water at the Equator and close to it is saltier and sea water closer to the poles is less saltier. Some solid and gaseous matter that has escaped from the interior Earth's through volcanic vents also add to the salinity.
