WHY THEIR IS A GREAT GEOGRAPHICAL VARIATION IN INFRATUCTURE IN DIFFERENT STATES , CITIES AND REGIONS OF INDIA?

Infrastructure in India varies among different states and regions. One of the reasons that can be attributed to this fact is that infrastructure involves huge costs and have long gestation period. Thus, it requires public investment on the part of the government which may vary from state to state.

Another reason for the infrastructure disparities in various regions is that it follows a vicious circle. That is, it is often found that economically developed areas attract more investment that further necessitate the development of  infrastructure. Once infrastructure is developed, it again attracts more investment and so on. Thereby, the differences between the states further widens.
