Why there is least peristalsis in jejunum.

Please answer this question urgently.

Dear student,
Please find below the answer:

The majority of digestion and absorption occurs in the small intestine. As we move forward in the small intestine, the transit of chyme, segmentation, and a rate of peristalsis gets reduced. This is in order to give time for chemical digestion and nutrient absorption to occur.

Note: Peristalsis refers to the process by which the food is transported from the buccal cavity to the stomach with the help of the expansion and contraction of the muscles present in the oesophagus. After the peristaltic movement in the oesophagus, food particles move down the oesophagus and reach the stomach.

Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.
