Why thrombocytes are non- nucleated?

Dear Student,

Platelets remains in blood for a span of 9-10 days after which they are removed by spleen. They are not cell but cell fragments from a multinucleated megakaryocytes and circulate in blood stream in large number carrying all the required proteins that helps in the blood clotting. The nucleus may not serve any purpose in them so they have evolved without having nucleus . However, not much light is being put on such subject.

Regards,
