why valency is always positive?

Valency is the combining capacity of an element. The total number of electrons in the outermost shell varies from 1 to 8 there for the combining capacity will always be 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 or 8. Therefore valency is always positive.

No valency is not always positive . If the atom has the tendency to gain electron it will be electronegative i.e it will have negative valency such as oxygen has valency -2 .

Valency is always positive, either an atom accepts electron or it donate electron
Charge becomes positive or negative , if an atom accepts electron the charge become negative and if atom donate electron the charge becomes positive

Valency is not always positive. If an element gains an electron then its valency is negative wheareas its positive whenit donates an electron.

valency of metals are positive and of non-metals are negative. valency is not always positive its negative also .when it gain electron its negative but when it loses some electrons its valency becomes positive
