Why was Jack remembering his childhood while telling Jo the story about skunk?

Dear student

Whenever Jack made up a story for his daughter, he always added some element of his own personal life. For example, when telling the story of 'Roger Skunk', he imagined the humiliations he felt when he himself was a child and then retold the story, as if Roger Skunk was feeling that same humiliation.
