Why was narrator happy to go behind the strange areoplane like an obedient child ??

Dear student,

The narrator was happy to behind the strange aeroplane like an obedient child because he felt that he was not alone and it was his last hope following which he could possibly reach his destination just in time. The narrator had no way out and finding an aeroplane amidst terribly dark clouds was nothing less than a miracle for him.
