Why we can't see the shadow in its own colour ???

Dear Student,

When an object is placed in front of a light source, it produces a dark area behind it.Shadows are formed when light is stopped by an object. A shadow is an area which is devoid of light. Any opaque object which does not allow light to pass through them will form a shadow. The happens because of a special property of light i.e "A light ray always travels in a straight line.".As there is no light we cannot see any colours in  shadow. It will appear as black
