Why wild animals stray into villages and even cities?

To create more space for the increasing population to live, forested land which was once home to the wild animals is cleared and either converted to crop fields or used for making houses. This is the reason wild animals sometimes stray into the nearby villages because their own habitat has been degraded and they might roam farther to find food and water.
