Will earthworms die in marine water???

Dear student,
The skin of earthworm is highly sensitive to salt which may cause its death due to exosmosis. Marine water contains high concentration of salts, so marine water can kill earthworm. Earthworm do not have lungs to breath in, they take oxygen passively by diffusion through their moist skin. Earthworm if placed in marine water will die due to two reasons first due to lack of oxygen (if oxygen is not supplied from outside) and second due to high salt concentration.
